Course Duration: 2 Days

Introduction

This safety awareness training program is designed to provide drivers with the necessary knowledge, attitude and mindset on Defensive Driving in order to manage and drive his/ her vehicle safety.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Knowledge on how to prevent and avoid accident
  • Right mindset and attitude during driving
  • What and how to scan during driving
  • Understand the need of safe following distance and buffer zone

  • Able to understand the causes of vehicle rollover
  • Recap and enhance knowledge on road signage
  • The importance of Pre-Drive Check - ROTA A
  • Equip driver to be a better and safe road user to himself/ herself and others

Module 2: Pre-Drive Vehicle Inspection - ROTA A

  • Understand and check all vehicle mechanism which the driver utilize to drive safety i.e. side mirror, signal light, gear, steering, horn and brake
  • Check safety features of the vehicle i.e. engine oil, water level, brake fluid level, wiper, tyres, seat belth, lights etc. and also wear and tear

Module 3: Defensive Driving Technique & Practices

  • Principles of defensive driving
  • Golden rules in defensive driving
  • Scanning ahead - Hazard identification and perception
  • Creating a safety buffer
  • Safe following distances
  • Making allowances for mistakes by other road users
  • Stopping distances
  • Ensure you have a way out

Module 4: Sharing the Do(s) and Don't(s) while Driving

  • Conduct ROTA A in a systematic manner

Module 6: In Cab Coaching/ Commentary Driving

  • How to identify hazards on the road while driving
  • What to plan against the hazards
  • What type of action to take to avoid the hazards
  • Why it is important to know all road signs while driving
